Victor Ruiz is not shy about two of his greatest passions: hot dogs and Miami sports. At his restaurant, Sweet Dogs, he brings the two together in a delicious marriage. Jerseys and memorabilia decorate the walls, and many of the hot dogs on the menu are inspired by local teams. The Heat, for example, is topped with a fiery combo of homemade beef chili and jalapeños, whereas the U, a nod to the University of Miami, carries a heap of bacon, sautéed onions, and sauerkraut. Then, of course, there's the dog that started it all: The Sweet Dog, topped with bacon, sweet peppers, onions, crispy La Choy rice noodles, and a slather of Sweet Dogs Home Sauce. Diners can pair their dogs with homemade sides such as barbecue beans, and follow up meals with soft-serve cones, milk shakes, or another hot dog with "dessert" written on it in mustard.
