Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course
The shores of Lake Michigan host a number of golf courses throughout Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan, but not many feature the Chicago skyline as a competing backdrop. Those bragging rights belong to the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course, a 9-hole jewel in the city's Lakeview neighborhood operated by the Chicago Park District. The green fairways unfurl alongside Montrose Harbor, offering foursomes glimpses of the shimmering lake waters and docked boats to the east, Lake Shore Drive's high-rise apartment buildings to the west, and the Loop's skyscrapers and King Kongs to the south. When golfers manage to tear their eyes away from the scenery, they can pursue the course's par of 36 from any of three sets of tees. Upon holing out on the 9th green, players rest their bones on the back deck of the Clock Tour Cafe, a historic 1931 construction that today serves cold beers, burgers, and Chicago-style hot dogs.
Golfers can also opt for indoor golf with the HD golf simulator. Inside the newly-renovated simulator room, players can practice their swing on one of 30 championship courses. The room also comes complete with a bar which serves snacks and drinks.
