Sylvan Learning’s trained, patient tutors help students in kindergarten–grade 12 to hone their reading, writing, and math skills with personalized instruction designed to boost self-confidence. Each week, students head in for two one-hour, after-school sessions, during which instructors develop a custom plan to bolster academic performance and pencil-sharpening techniques. Elementary-school students can receive extra practice in reading concepts such as phonics and vocabulary, and middle-schoolers can refine their understanding of fractions and the writing process.
High-school programs may cover advanced math skills such as trigonometry and geometry or prepare soon-to-be graduates for college applications and essays. Throughout the weeks of instruction, tutors regularly update parents and teachers on students’ progress, helping communication to flow as freely as a well-oiled waterfall.

About Sylvan Learning Center
At more than 900 learning centers across the world, Sylvan offers kids a leg up through personalized, one-on-one programs prescribed by an in-depth skills assessment. Students build on past lessons to learn progressively, and sessions may hone in on different disciplines, granting kids the confidence to interpret literature and the rhetorical skills needed to negotiate a later bedtime. The positive mindset of personable, invested instructors helps to inspire kids to greater academic feats, as does a prize program that rewards hard work with CDs and gift cards.
