The timeless music from the 1965 Broadway hit Hello Dolly! comes to Symphony Silicon Valley for a three-performance run. The entire show will be performed without sets and costumes, with a cast of tuxedoed and gowned performers reading and singing from scripts like secret agents rehearsing for undercover missions as baritones and altos. A full orchestra will also be on stage. Tony-winner Leslie Uggams plays Dolly Gallagher Levi, the lovable meddler who takes a strike at matchmaking for a Yonkers shopkeeper named Horace Vandergelder. The sweet sounds of the classic title number will backstroke their way through your ear canals, along with other toe-tapping numbers such as "Put on Your Sunday Clothes," "Ribbons Down My Back," and "So Long, Dearie."
The California Theatre retains all of its 1920s movie-house charm, even after recent renovations removed the pesky rum-running circuit in the lobby. The stunning auditorium offers gold-gilded views of the action on stage (see the seating chart for more information). Arrive up to an hour and a half before showtime, though at least 30 minutes before is recommended, to pick up your ticket at The California Theatre's will call or pick it up nearby at Symphony Silicon Valley's administrative offices on Monday through Friday to hear the sweet sounds emanating from the impressive pipe organ in the lobby.
