Much like the "Electric Slide," tango music is revered for its up-tempo beat and mesmerizing dance form. Explore movement-inspiring music with today's Groupon: for $19, you get one ticket to see a performance of Pablo Ziegler's Beyond Tango on April 23, at 8 p.m. at Symphony Space on the Upper West Side (up to a $43 value).
As the 2005 winner and 2008 nominee for Best Tango Album at the Latin Grammys, renowned pianist and Buenos Aires native Pablo Ziegler has expertly modernized the rich history of tango. His show, Beyond Tango, explores the complexity of tango music, steadily augmenting from a piano solo to a trio, quartet, quintet, and six-handed cello player, before blossoming into a chamber ensemble. The ensemble will be playing a selection of Ziegler's compositions and arrangements, a fusion of tango and Latin rhythms, melodic passages, instrumental improvisation, and musical Morse code, giving those fluent in it directions to the after-party.
