What You'll Get
South Korean pianist Yoonie Han is known for her technical mastery, not to mention her sartorial style -- she often performs in gowns designed by sponsor Dolce & Gabbana. She holds a masters' degree from Juilliard, recently released her first album and has played Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and The Kennedy Center. For this Steinway Salon performance at Symphony Space, she'll tackle a 2015 piece written especially for her by Theodore Wiprud, and works by Gluck, Granados and LeFrak, all building to a Gershwin finale of Rhapsody in Blue.
Program (subject to change):
Christoph W. Gluck (arr. I. Friedman): “Mélodie” from Orfeo ed Euridice (1762, arr. 1944)
Enrique Granados: Selections from Goyescas, op.11 (1911)
“Los requiebros” (The Compliments)
“Quejas, o La Maja y el ruisenor” (The Girl and the Nightingale)
“El amor y la muerte” (Love and Death)
Karen LeFrak: Ombres d’Été (2014)
Theodore Wiprud: Fumée d’Ambre Gris (2015), written for Yoonie Han
George Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue (1924)
The concert runs approximately 90 minutes.
