The 2011 execution of Troy Davis is at the center of the timely new drama Beyond Reasonable Doubt. In this world premiere from acclaimed playwright Lee Nowell and Synchronicity Theatre, two stories shed light on different sides of hot-button issues of racial justice and capital punishment. For 20 years, African-American Troy Davis has maintained his innocence in the killing of a white police officer. Now his impending execution has set off a whirlwind of controversy in the media. In the middle of it is burned-out activist Alison, who finds renewed purpose in trying to exonerate Davis, despite her corporate lawyer husband's protests. Meanwhile, Civil Rights veteran Mary and her grandson Curtis clash on capital punishment in light of a dark trauma in their past.
