Healthy living, like catching a really fast pig, requires balance, discipline, and a lack of grease. Move toward a healthier existence with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of organic groceries and more at Syracuse Real Food Co-Op.
Owned by more than 2,600 members but open to everyone, Syracuse Real Food Co-Op houses organic, natural, and whole foods from national brands and local farms alike. The co-op's bevy of healthy options has been keeping its community healthy since it began more than a quarter century ago in the basement of its first managers, who sought refuge from preservative-filled, artificially flavored atomic bombs.
Smother Green Mountain Gringo tortilla strips ($2.69 for 8 oz.) with guacamole made from organic avocados ($1.79 each), or force a classic PB&J to grow up with fresh-baked bread and Once Again organic peanut butter ($4.99 for 16 oz.). Knowledgeable staff members, operating under oath of the seven co-op principles, guide overwhelmed shoppers through dairy products, bulk beans, wild-caught seafood, locally raised meats, and natural bodycare products, much like wise Sherpas guiding explorers through the intricacies of molecular biology.
Five Google Mappers give the Syracuse Real Food Co-op a four-star average:
- I have been part of the Co-op since I was born, my parents were part of the founding crew. The food is all organic and it is mostly local and fair-trade. Nowhere else can you buy organic grains and and [sic] spices in bulk like you can at the Co-op! – Jacob
