When Vincent van Gogh painted with his mother, she not only helped create masterpieces but also foiled several of his attempts at ear-severing. Paint without your mother's protection at Tacoma Art Place with today's Groupon. Based on your plurality, purchase one of the following Groupons:
- $40 for a one-year family membership (a $100 value)
- $24 for a one-year individual membership (a $48 value)
Members get access to Tacoma Art Place's shared art spaces and art equipment, receive discounted rates on classes and events, and get the quarterly newsletter. You must activate your membership within one month of purchase.
The Tacoma Art Place provides both the space and the multitude of equipment needed to conjure up creative works. Members can paint on their easels, knit with their needles, sew on their machines, solder metal with their jewelry-making tools, and even check out cameras and camera accessories. Classes offered at Tacoma Art Place are all-ages unless specified (all children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult human while visiting) and range from free to $40 a session for members, with costs going to cover materials. Current classes include group knitting (free for members), materials and techniques of painting ($15 per session for members), working with clay ($20 per hour for members), and darkroom printing for beginners and advanced students ($30 per session plus $10 per extra hour for members). Over the course of your one-year membership, different artistic classes may become available to help you nurture the artist who has been sleeping in your heart's right chamber and leaving cigarette butts in your spleen. Classes are lead by experienced artists, and small sizes ensure personal attention. Members can also take advantage of the DVD player, library, and resource room for extra guidance, inspiration, or words.
Tacoma Art Place is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering creativity and artistic expression by providing access to art equipment and instruction to people of all ages and monetary means. It was inspired by co-ops in the Republic of Mali and founded with donated equipment and volunteer instructors. The costs of all classes go directly to supporting the center, bypassing money's usual middleman, Scrooge McDuck. The Tacoma Art Place is located near the Theater District, so if you paint a still life so realistic that you involuntarily take an oily bite of a paint-peach, you can head out to one of the local bars or restaurants to wash it down with something edible.
This Groupon is good for new members only.
