The CT Bites-lauded Tacos Mexico sends taste buds journeying south of the border with traditional Mexican dishes enjoyed surrounded by sunny yellow walls. Expert chefs yield fresh guacamole by smashing avocados under the weight of heavy-metal mariachi riffs, revving appetites for fajitas de pollo, whose savory chicken bundles partner with rice and beans. Carne a la Mexicana lays slices of jalapeño, tomato, and onion across grilled strips of top round steak. Gravy, meanwhile, traverses mozzarella-laden shrimp, vegetables, and rice nestled inside the relleno de camaron’s poblano pepper. Table tenants can wash down sumptuous suppers with palate splashes of margaritas, which victorious pro football teams can use in lieu of sports drinks to cascade onto the heads of coaches from a frosty pitcher.

While sipping and nibbling, feel free to visually imbibe the eatery’s polychromatic artwork, stone bar, wood arches and tables, soccer matches broadcast on TV, and the stripes of blue and purple that complement the vivid yellow walls.

Tacos Mexico

Avocados, jalapeños, and tomatillos. These staples of traditional Mexican cuisine take center stage at Tacos Mexico, where the dishes’ rustic simplicity lets their flavors shine through. Chefs nestle tender morsels of steak, carnitas, or chorizo into corn tortillas to create their signature tacos, and they also turn out more complex entrees, such as cubes of pork loin blanketed in a rich mole sauce or vegetarian options that spotlight portabella mushrooms and cacti.

As guest conclude their meals with sweet nibbles of tres leches cake or coconut flan, they can listen to the ebb and flow of a soccer match broadcast on the flat-screen television hanging over the bar. Nearby, a belt of cornflower blue wraps around the dining room’s bright, yellow walls, which bear paintings of traditional Mexican pueblos rather than Mexico’s newest moon colonies.

Customer Reviews

When we first drove up, it looked like a really casual carry-out place. We were pleasantly surprised to see the bar and the sit-down dining area. The meal started out with some amazing salsas. The service was great, super fast and cheerful, and all the food and drinks were awesome. I loved the margarita, and the beef fajitas were really the best in town. I can't wait to go back with friends!
