Wonderful experience. We had two children, 7/9 years old, and four adults. There was plenty for the kids to do, and great learning for the parents. If you've wanted to have a close encounter, IE be right with, feed/pet Alpacas and learn as much as questions you have on them, this is the Groupon for you. Not to mention learning about homecrafts, and the process of how fiber is used. Afterwards you'll get an opportunity to visit the store, where you get a chance to purchase items which are very hard to find, nearly all of it is homemade and of amazing quality. This is a good afternoon activity even in rain. Enjoy!!!
David and Jean were excellent hosts for us. They greeted us when we arrived and took us immediately to see the alpacas. We spent 30+ minutes in a pen with several of the alpacas and were able to pet one of them. Our hosts answered all of our questions (and we had a lot of them!) knowledgeably and gave us lots of information about the animals.
We then went inside to the room where they process the fiber. They explained the process and showed us the that various machines that take the fiber from being raw to usable. We were able to see and feel the fiber in various stages of processing and learn about how the fiber can be used.
After learning about the processing, we went to the last part of the tour--the gift shop! It was neat to see how the processed fiber is ultimately used in items (and to be able to purchase high quality items from local people).
We liked it so much that we went back a second time!
Pro-tips: 1) wear shoes and clothes that you don't mind getting muddy and/or covered in loose fiber and 2) have fun!
