Talara pulsates with vibrant Art Deco hues and patrons passing tapas, seviche, paella, and an array of Latin and South American specialties. Seven different seviche styles, each with a different mix of fresh seafood, are available from the seviche bar; nosh a 2 oz. serving of traditional seviche ($8) or choose two ($15) or three ($21) different preparations, such as the Peruvian-style tiradito or the curried tropical fruit. Tapas options include Portuguese-style mussels ($9), mini tostadas ($8), and empanadas stuffed with pulled pork and queso blanco ($9). Talara's bright atmosphere and full bar of lively libations is on par with its energetic eats. The greens of a key-lime mojito or a mint-bubblegum vodka mojito absorb the dining room's bright neon lights and complement the Cuban art on the walls. A daily glass of sangria or the traditional Brazilian caipirinha (made with cachaça, sugar, and lime) rounds out the exotic drink menu and makes a superb centerpiece for Talara's high-top tables.
