Q&A with Bryce Smith, Owner
Apart from your business’s main attraction, do you offer any “hidden” services or activities that visitors are always delighted to learn about?
On Wednesday and Friday evenings we offer "Specials" classes that usually revolve around a theme. This month we are doing bow hunting classes on Wednesday night and "Blackout" classes (think disco/cyber-bowling) on Friday. Our students really love these classes, and each month they look forward to seeing what we have planned next.
When and how did you first develop a passion for your work?
I have always loved archery, but started shooting seriously about 8 years ago. A few years after that, my daughter asked me to teach her how to use a bow and arrow…and that started me into coaching.
What is one fun, unusual fact about your business?
Every Halloween we host a themed event that allows our students to experience shooting in a sci-fi / fantasy / horror environment similar to what you'd find in movies, books, video games or comics. In the past we've done zombie hunters, space marines on a haunted space ship and a Dungeons & Dragons / Middle Earth / World of Warcraft-like fantasy scenario.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn’t cover?
Tampa Archery School is not a retailer…we do not sell equipment, just provide training. Think of us as an "archery dojo"…a place to be challenged, coached and trained to meet your personal goals.
