The roughly eight-hour tour narrated by experienced and knowledgeable guides kicks off with a ride from the Strip to Eldorado Canyon, where guests will enjoy an hour-long above- and below-ground tour of the historic Techatticup Mine, a key site in Las Vegas’s mining history. Next, groups take a 2.5-hour motorized raft ride on the Colorado River that ends at Willow Beach in Arizona, following the same route as early Las Vegas explorers. Along the way, tours encounter waterfalls, hot springs, and may come across a variety of wildlife such as desert big horn sheep, osprey, great blue heron, and more. In addition, the tour stops on the river’s banks so guests can eat lunch and play or swim in the river’s water. Stored in a souvenir insulated bag, lunch includes a turkey wrap, chips, apple, and bottle of water. If 72-hour notice is provided, vegetarian and gluten-free options are available. Finally, the group stops for a photo op of the Hoover Dam and the roughly 900-foot-high Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge.
Check-in times are between 8 and 9 a.m., and tours are available Wednesdays and Saturdays. Guests are encouraged to bring their cameras, and wear comfortable clothing, a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses. For more information, see the rafting tour descriptions. <p>
Black Canyon River Adventures
The year 2013 marks the 30th anniversary of guided rafting tours through the Colorado River's Black Canyon. Created by volcanic activity over the course of millennia, its walls rise more than 2,000 feet above the Colorado River’s edge. Rafters glide between these walls on the company’s assorted rafting tours, which also incorporate visits to sites such as the Hoover Dam or the Techatticup Mine, where they learn about area mining history.
