What You'll Get
At age 87, Richmond Shepard is the self-proclaimed "World's Oldest Active Mime." He's taught and performed miming around the world, coached such comedy luminaries as Lily Tomlin, Steve Martin and Dick Van Dyke and even penned the illustrated encyclopedia Mime: The Technique of Silence. Now Shepard reflects on his quirky career with You Want to Be a What?!?, a musical memoir in mime hitting the stage at New York's Don't Tell Mama Cabaret. His new show combines vintage and modern mime idioms, adding music, as well as back-up mimes. With nods to iconic French actor Jean-Louis Barrault and colorful character Lord Buckley, Shepard has concocted a mime-cabaret show like nothing you've seen before. With You Want to Be a What?!?, you'll witness him doing "stand-up mime" and recounting the strange stories and physical jokes that helped make him a stage legend.
The running time is approximately one hour and 15 minutes.
