California RBS Alcohol Training

On-premises alcoholic beverage servers and their managers earn a RBS Certification with TAP Series, which is mandatory by the state law no later than August 31, 2022.

Prior to taking this course, you must register as an Alcohol Server with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control at this link https://abcbiz.abc.ca.gov/login. Click on Create an Account

 Within the portal, submit an application and pay the $3.00 application fee. The fee is a government fee and is not part of the training cost. After you register and complete your application, you will be given an RBS Server ID Number. You will enter this number when registering for the TAP course. Go to this link https://tapseries.io/account/license/ enter your TAP Key and register as a student at TAP Series.

Search for online providers and click on the TAP Series link to purchase the course.

Within a few hours after course completion, you’ll receive an email notification from the CA RBS saying you may begin your exam. The state administered exam must be completed within 30 days of the date you completed the TAP training.

After completing the TAP training, TAP uploads your course information to the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. After you receive a notification from TAP that your course information has been updated, you will log back into your account at https://abcbiz.abc.ca.gov/ to take your online ABC exam. You will then need to pass an online ABC administered RBS exam within 60 calendar days from the first date of employment.

Note: Per the California ABC, you will only have 30 days from your course completion date to take the exam, or you will need to order a new course and re-take the training.
