What You'll Get
If you're serious about winning an offseason gold medal and getting showered in praise, don't try curling against the Swedes on an empty stomach. Today's Groupon merrily fills depleted tanks with $45 worth of comforting meals for $20 at Tarragon in Sunnyvale. The restaurant features a savory spread of fresh cuisine hydrated by diverse wines and signature cocktails.
The dinner menu is a savory spread of fresh starters, salads, and entrees. Appetites can dip their toothed toes in the edible waters of baked brie puff pastries ($9) or Dungeness crab cakes with avocado mousse and mango salsa ($9.50) before a hearty wedge salad with prosciutto and feta ($6). Larger plates support a wealth of robust entrees; braised short ribs are matched with onion strings and garlic mashed potatoes ($19.50), while the rack of lamb chooses the friendship of rosemary roasted taters, grilled zucchini, and a mint-scented lamb reduction ($24). Seaside cravings extend toward the mesquite-grilled salmon over cherry-walnut rice ($18.50) and the smorgasbord offerings of cioppino, a celebration of mussels, clams, shrimp, white fish, potatoes, and a sea of spicy tomato sauce ($16.50).
In addition to the edible array, Tarragon treats feasters to a lavish ambience of semi-circular booths against brick walls and elevated seating peppered by white-linen tabletops. An attractive outdoor seating area houses diners during cooperative weather, while uncouth storm clouds with angry eyebrows encourage patrons to populate the beautiful bar. Pomegranate martinis and green-tea lychee cocktails ($10 each) are a few of the many buzz-worthy sips on the grounds at Tarragon.
