Like Bob Dylan did a generation before her, Suzanne Vega didn't so much resuscitate folk music as reinvent it completely. A songwriter of poetic genius, Vega got her start in the Greenwich Village clubs of the early '80s. Later catapulted to fame by her hit singles "Luka" and "Tom's Diner," she continues to write and perform profoundly affecting music. Duncan Sheik came to fame in the late '90s thanks to his hit single "Barely Breathing" and its modern take on the singer-songwriter style. He's since been recognized for his musical contributions to the Broadway sensation Spring Awakening, which earned him two Tony Awards and a Grammy. See them take the stage at Tarrytown Music Hall.
