An in-depth knowledge of wine can enliven humdrum dinner parties, just as an in-depth knowledge of dynamite fishing can enliven foundering job interviews. Give palates an executive education with this Groupon.

The gourmets at Taste unlock secrets to a sensitive palate with wines from Sand Castle Winery. The cupcakes are provided by ICED by Betsey, and flavors vary depending on availability. This Groupon is valid Thursday–Sunday.
At Taste, the retail store for the storied Sand Castle Winery, rows of wooden racks display the winery's vintages alongside Di Bruno Bros. cheeses and gourmet oils and vinegars. Regular tastings and hands-on classes take place amid the store's marble countertops and vineyard-inspired artwork that is only detectable by oenophiles. During wine-pairing classes, students learn to coordinate nosh and nectar as experts present them with various combinations of wine and accenting fare, such as cheeses and fruits.

“The staff is super knowledgeable, so just ask any questions you have and they've got your back. In terms of the wines themselves, if you like sweet wine, try the (regular, not unoaked) chardonnay or the dry rose...both super, super sweet. If you, like me, prefer dry wine, definitely try their unoaked chard, the dry rieseling (first one I ever liked, just trust me on this!) Their cab is also really good...and taste the different balsamics and olives oils! We left with some yummy fig balsamic to put on the tomatoes we're growing in our garden. Oh, and they have yummy DiBruno Bros goodies from the city and cupcakes pretty similar to Georgetown Cupcake from DC/SoHo, so definitely try them out if you're looking to splurge! Fun weeknight date :)”
“Great little place to visit for a drink. Good selection of wine.”
