Food and drink festivals allow people to diversify their palates in one day, a feat previously attainable only by cramming five frozen dinners and a variety pack of juice boxes into a blender. Savor expanding horizons with today's Groupon: for $25, you get a ticket to Taste of the Town (a $50 value), hosted by the Greater Arizona Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, on Friday, October 21, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Scottsdale Quarter.
Amid samples of food and drinks from more than 20 local restaurants, guests at Taste of the Town mingle with one another while enjoying live music and bidding in a silent auction benefitting the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Admission grants event-goers complimentary tastings from the valley's premium restaurants paired with locally produced samples of autumn wine, beer, spirits, and bottled ghosts.
While munching away, jam to the sounds of the Chris Parker Project, which covers a multitude of recognizable pop tunes. A silent auction serves as the evening's main event, and bidders can duke it out over sporting goods, luxury vacations, and other goodies at the direction of an auctioneer displayed on a muted television. The event organizers recommend arriving dressed to impress, and examples of last year's outfits can be seen here.
