Welcome to Groupon, Lincoln! For our inaugural deal, $5 gets you $10 worth of classic sandwiches, sides, and drinks at Tastee Inn & Out, located at 1530 North 48th Street. Since this is everyone's first Groupon, allow us to briefly explain how it works.
How Groupon Works
Groupon is a combination of the words group and coupon. Each day, we offer an unbeatable deal on the best of Lincoln's restaurants, spas, sporting events, theater, and more. By promising businesses a minimum number of customers, we get discounts you won't find anywhere else. We call it "collective buying power."
If you want to get the deal, just click BUY before the offer ends at midnight. If the minimum number of people (25 for today's deal) sign up by the end of the day, you'll be emailed a gift certificate the next morning. You can print your Groupons or redeem them with our iPhone app. Use them whenever you want until the deal expires—today's expires in six months. If not enough people join, no one gets the deal (and you won't be charged), so invite your friends to make sure you get the discount!
Astronaut cooks have made numerous attempts to wrangle hamburgers into space-ready meals, from dehydrated-pickle discs to vacuum-sealed burger bottles. Enjoy what our starry-eyed brethren never can with today’s Groupon: for $5, you get $10 worth of grabbable grub and drinks at Tastee Inn & Out. The restaurant has been serving up sandwiches, sides, fountain sodas, and milkshakes for more than 60 years from its now-retro digs located at 1530 North 48th Street.
Tastee Inn & Out's cozy, unpretentious confines cocoon customers in toasty aromas fresh from the grill. The restaurant's charming, antiqued ambience is matched with a short-but-sweet menu of old-fashioned fare, transporting patrons to simpler times when wearing poodle skirts didn't inspire protestors to throw red paint on you. Appease protein-seeking incisors with a classic Tastee burger ($1.45, add $0.25 for cheese), hot dog ($1.59), western steak sandwich ($2.49), or cheese frenchy ($2.39). Recovering carnivores can distract themselves from temptation by tossing back an order of onion chips ($2.10) or french fries ($1.39) or anchoring their seafaring teeth into a delicious fish sandwich ($2.19). Rinse down your rations with a fizzy soda from the fountain ($1.39 for a medium) or a creamy chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla milkshake ($2.29). For a Tastee experience to go, take advantage of the joint's quaint drive-thru window or pick up a package of their lauded meat to grill at home ($4.25/lb).
- This place is a staple in Lincoln. It has been around for over 60 years and just as popular as the day it opened. That's a pretty good compliment considering all the fast food restaurants lately. Not only is the food cheap, but excellent. – Molly M., Dine.com
- Great place that takes you back in time. Good food, great people, and the best onion chips around. When your [sic] in Lincoln you must stop by. I can remember coming here when I was 8 and almost 30 years later it still feels the same. – Steven H., Insider Pages
- My grandparents have lived in Lincoln their whole lives and we have always gone to Tastee when we come into town. I am a huge fan of the onion chips and dip but most people like the "tastee sandwich." – Justin S., Yelp
