Unlike the stop-wagons popular among tourists and tortoises, go karts offer drivers the control and speed necessary for outrunning reckless, adrenaline-addicted fruit stands. Today's Groupon lets you practice citrus-swerving manoeuvres: for $12, you get two indoor kart races at TBC Indoor Kart Racing, located in Richmond (up to a $40 value). Aspiring karters can use up to two Groupons per visit.
TBC Indoor Kart Racing provides ground for ungoverned racers to zoom around on a large indoor track, and your Groupon is good for two race passes—use both at once, share with a friend, or split them between separate visits. A state-of-the-art timing system and big, fast engines mean a trip around the squiggly track will have you satisfying the want you've mistaken as a need for speed in record time. TBC's karts use a clean-air exhaust system, so stressed lungs can breathe easily as they zoom around the bend, and a separate game lounge can keep kartophobic friends occupied as you race around the track.
Settle road-rage arguments by inviting an opposing driver to a duel on the tracks. Prove to your friends that the six times you failed your driving test were, in fact, flukes. Or just cruise out solo, defeating total strangers in a wild day of rubber burning and dust eating. Because there's no limit to the number of purchases you can make with today's deal, you can stock up on the good kind of speeding tickets to start a new hobby or plan an exciting series of first dates.
Riders must be at least 11 years old and at least 58 inches tall to get behind the wheel. All racers are advised to call ahead for track availability.
TBC Indoor Kart Racing does not yet have many reviews, but customers provide testimonials online:
- The organization, prefessionalism [sic] and enthusiasm of your team, as well as the speed of your cars and the impressiveness of your facility blew our entire group away. – Julie Kim
- Your staff was accommodating, professional and friendly; and the facility is the best indoor karting facility I've ever seen (having visited at least a dozen other ones around North America). – Ross Bentley
Indoor Kart Racing @ TBC
Rows of sleek, black SODI RT8 go-karts vibrate at the start of Indoor Kart Racing @ TBC's 1/5-mile track. Drivers hover 2 inches above the ground, anxiously awaiting the moment they can slam down the gas pedal and accelerate their vehicle capable of reaching speeds of up to 75 km/h. Everyday from 10 a.m. until midnight, an adrenalin-fuelled parade of karts hugs the course’s 13-turns as drivers 11 and older flex their navigational muscles and best their times using a high-tech digital timing system. In between laps, video games and air hockey occupy fingers itching for the steering wheel. The family-friendly environment, kept fume-free via the karts’ clean air exhaust systems, hosts solo riders, as well as groups that can rent out the full service banquet meeting room to celebrate a birthday, Christmas party, corporate event, or just a fun afternoon with friends.
