A ball of ingot jasmine is rather unremarkable looking. With it's thin, wispy leaves that are rolled up around a red center, it resembles a fuzzy olive or a neglected ball of yarn cast aside after the family cat refused to wear anymore homemade hats. But when you're sitting around a table at Tea Bar and Organics Fusion Sushi Grill and a server drops one of these unremarkable balls into a pitcher of hot water, something remarkable starts to happen. Those leaves begin to unfurl, slowly revealing the bright flower hiding at its core.
The beautiful tea is just one of the unique hot and cold drinks served at Tea Bar, where some truly unusual blends abound, including a pineapple-vinegar iced tea and orange-egg-honey juice. The beverages pair with shaved-ice concoctions, a treat for the eyes in their pretty shell bowls, and with Asian cuisine, such as noodle dishes, short ribs, curry chicken, and teriyaki eel.
