Would it be possible to ask how sweet people would like their tea? I've seen this at other tea places. I personally like my tea very sweet, but two people in my party like theirs less sweet, so they thought the tea was a little too sweet. Also, I understand that nondairy creamer is your default, but I had to belatedly ask to have half and half instead (I don't like nondairy creamer). I don't know if there is a standard protocol about when to ask, but I thought I'd mention it. That said, your employees are absolutely fantastic. Really friendly, really helpful, just delightful people. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the energetic young man who helped us, but he was great. That can really make or break a cute shop experience like this, so good job! I don't know how often I'll be back, since it's out of the way for me, but one of my friends who came with me hops the shuttle to Texas State and is in your parking lot often, and she says she'll probably drop in to get tea now that she knows how tasty you are. :)

What You'll Get

Colonists asserted their independence at the Boston Tea Party by lulling British officers to sleep with cups of chamomile and drawing marker mustaches on their faces. Harness the revolutionary power of tea with today's Groupon: for $5, you get $10 worth of tea, drinks, and tapioca at The Tea Lounge.

The Tea Lounge’s plush modern sittables embrace the bodies of students, families, and businesspeople as they pause the daily grind and wash down conversations with one of the establishment’s bountiful beverages. Nondairy creamer coalesces within the steaming-hot confines of coconut-infused green tea ($3.25), a signature lactose-free style of preparation that finds its way into many of the store’s green and black teas. Every conceivable fruit bolsters hot beverages with sugary flavors, as in the green-apple black tea ($2.75), whose mysterious color unsurprisingly refracts light into a rainbow like a prism.

Baristas mix up more than just herb-infused brews, slaking caffeine cravings with the mocha coffee with tapioca ($3.75) and cleansing palates with succulent juices, such as the kumquat lemon juice ($2.50). Any drink can be customized by the addition of sinkers, the company’s moniker for pearl tapioca, pudding, and jelly. Rich brown trim divides the walls into blocks of green and orange color, which customers cozy up to in high-backed booths. Alternatively, modern-style chairs gather round polished glass-top tables in the center of the room, providing an island of calm at which to enjoy a beverage or brusquely recite favorite passages from Robinson Crusoe.

About The Tea Lounge

Chewy pearls of tapioca enliven the creamy teas and fresh juices in The Tea Lounge's colorful range. A special infusion of dark-brown sugar and caramel gives the Lounge's tapioca bubbles a singular flavor without resorting to hot sauce or cheeseburger extract. In addition to traditional green and black teas, guests can enjoy signature cream-tea blends, iced coffees, and tropical juices. Other bubble pearls, or "sinkers," lend robust flavor in 19 flavors such as peach-yogurt gelatin, herbal jelly, and glitter pudding.
