Irregular Plurals - Make a Book!
I Can Read! Digraphs and Strange Blends: This course includes 5 self-paced lessons. My teaching style is very lively and interactive. I often use my whiteboard, props and puppets. Together we will play a game of "switch it" where we arrange letters to spell words with our target sounds. At the end of each lesson, students are able to practice their newly learned skills with a variety of fun online games.
Here is a breakdown of what sounds we will be tackling: sh, ch, ar/or, ur/ir/er, th / wh - Difference between "th" in "bath" and "th" in "those". Difference between "they're, their and there".
I Can Read! CVC and Sight Words While Beat Box Rhyming:
This course includes 10 self-paced lessons. The goal is to get learners excited to read in order to solve the clues like a detective! Each week we will start by reading CVC blends from our word families below. We practice beat box rhyming after every two words. This helps learners connect how they rhyme and have the same ending sounds. There are few challenging words with 4-5 letters as well. Each lesson, I reveal a few of our cutie dinosaur babies with sight words on them. At the end of each video lesson, I have several online games and our detective worksheets. Clues involve solving simple math problems to reveal a secret number. Learners will get a printable “code” or cipher worksheet where they can match the numbers to letters combined to reveal a word.
We will focus on a different word family each class with 2 lessons each week as follows:
ONE: “en” and “at”
TWO: “it” and “un”
THREE: “ug” and “ip”
FOUR: “et” and “ig”
FIVE: “ag” and "in"
Sight words that are in our “sentence of the week” include: The, went, where, in, here, was, go, to, into, day, she, he, there, been, must, said and saw.
Irregular Plurals: This course includes 4 self-paced lessons. Irregular plurals can be tricky to remember. Students will learn in a fun way by listening to and creating a book with 12 common irregular plurals. Students can enjoy interacting with each other while we create our books by sharing videos and pictures in the virtual classroom. They are also able to take quizzes to test knowledge and compete with other learners in the online games. By the end of class, learners will have a wonderful keepsake to refer back to and show off to their family and friends.
