Q:

Are the training groups broken down by pace time? If so, does each pace group train separately with their own coach, or does everyone train together?

Janelle R.  asked on  May 21, 2012

A:

The team always meets at the same time and location but will break up into groups based on pace. There is one coach per team but they can work with you on an individual basis. The mileage will vary based on whether you are taining for the full or half marathon. There are 2 training teams in San Antonio, a Northwest and a Northeast/central.

Q:

For the Nike Women's Half in San Francisco, what is the amount your are required to fundraise? Do you hold fundraisers or is this something we would completely do on our own? What happens if we are unable to reach the amount required?- I've never fundraised for an event before so I'm a little intimidated since I do not know exactly how to go about it.

Mari Jo G.  asked on  May 21, 2012

A:

Hi Mari Jo! The fundraising goal for this event is $3,200 and it is an individual goal. We have ways to help you meet your goal: You get your own fundraising website that you can personalize, the team will do events together, and we will provide postage on up to 200 letters to send out to your friends and family. Every team member also has a Mentor who has successfully fundraised and is there to support you. Half way through the season you do have the option to back out w/ no further obligation and all funds raised go straight to the mission. If you do recommit, you must have the funds 2 weeks prior to your event or you will be asked to make a personal contribution. However, you will be able to continue funraising 30 days after your event and get reimbursed for anything you paid out of pocket. Hope this helps!

Q:

So does this cover the flight and hotel, or do I pay the $25 plus the hotel and flight. Also what kind of condition do I need to be in? If I do training for the Nike half marathon, is the training here or in San Francisco?

alyssa f.  asked on  May 19, 2012

A:

Team In Training covers your race entry fee, hotel and airfare in exchange for your fundraising for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The $25 secures your spot on the team. It does not matter what kind of condition you are in. Beginner or seasoned athlete, the coaches will train you for your event. About 20% of the team are typically walkers, too. The training is in San Antonio.
