Steamboat Wine Festival from Team Player Productions

For more than a decade, the Steamboat Wine Festival has been filling the fresh mountain air of Steamboat Springs with robust and light bouquets of wines from all over the world. The three-day festival takes over the town and the surrounding countryside with a long roster of events, featuring everything from typical festival activities, such as live music and seminars on wine, beer, and spirits. The festival also sponsors unexpected outings, such as rounds of golf, bike rides, and hikes. There's even a standup-paddleboarding class, which echoes the goals of the festival's nonprofit beneficiary, STARS, an organization that provides recreational opportunities for people with disabilities.

Each day is anchored by a capstone event. At the kickoff celebration, Wine on the Mountain, festival attendees are whisked to the top of Mount Werner to enjoy the view, snack on appetizers, and sample varietals while discussing their finer points with sommeliers and other winery representatives. The next day, a tour called the Stroll of Steamboat winds along the town's main street—adjacent to the Yampa River—where visitors get a glimpse of what the local restaurants and retailers have to offer. Finally, the Toast of Steamboat acts as the festival's Grand Tasting, offering samples of over 500 wines, beers, and spirits and small bites from more than 20 area eateries. The Beer-b-q event caps off the weekend Saturday night with craft brews, live music and mouth-watering BBQ.
