What You'll Get
Aside from climbing out of rattlesnake-infested quicksand or posing for rattlesnake-infested watercolor portraits, few activities combine the focus and physicality seen in marital arts training. Achieve masterful training with today’s Groupon: for $37, you get a one-month membership good for either taekwondo or mixed martial arts classes (a $75 value) at Team Tiger Martial Arts, located in McAllen. You get your choice of the following class times and age brackets:
- Taekwondo for juniors (ages 5–16): Monday-Thursday from 4:45 p.m.–5:30 p.m., or Monday and Wednesday from 6:15 p.m.–7:00 p.m.
- Taekwondo for adults (ages 17+): Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 7:45 p.m.–8:45 p.m.

As the area’s only Xtreme Martial Arts, International Taekwon-Do Federation, and American Top Team certified martial arts school, Team Tiger leads the charge in teaching the artful defense. The careful, capable instructors help students of all ages increase strength, endurance, and coordination, while developing a sense of respect for themselves and others that helps them to avoid peer pressure, develop their potential as leaders, and succeed in all other areas of life. Traditional taekwondo for adults and juniors teaches a self-defense approach that is firmly rooted in Eastern tradition, with a focus on generating maximum force by increasing speed and mass during movement, inspired by Newton’s physics and his well-documented ability to fend off many attacking apples at once.
For adult self-defenders who prefer a varied study, mixed martial arts combines multiple fighting systems like kickboxing, wrestling, and jujutsu with offensive tactics from striking to joint-locks and throws. The study leads students through the advantages and limitations of each technique, from engaging a single opponent to fending off a group of attackers to deflecting swarms of Chuck Norris impersonators. Regardless of your desired practice, Team Tiger boasts the expertise, ample facilities, and philosophical nunchucks to safely guide every student to greater physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
