Have some fun with your friends by recreationally hunting other humans (a sport made popular by the 1987 paintballing film Splattered Thunder) with today's Groupon. For just $40, you get field entry, rental equipment (gun, mask, all-day air) and 300 paintballs. Fulfill fantasies of expertly evading crossfire as you infiltrate enemy territory and annihilate the opposition, just like that scene in Splattered Thunder where Doxin pegs Munty in the temple. Or just splatter strangers with neon splotches. Tempe Paintball's indoor, air-conditioned facility is designed with novices and expert players in mind, so you don't need years of mercenary training or a Blu-ray copy of Splattered Thunder to try it out (not available on Blu-ray).
Tempe Paintball is open to the public Thursdays through Sundays. On Thursdays and Fridays, Tempe opens at 4 p.m. On the weekends, play starts at noon. The indoor, air-conditioned, 12,000 square-foot set-up facilitates intense close-quarter combat. You'll feel the adrenaline rush as you battle through decrepit buildings and barrels in an abandoned town–looking field as friendly referees guide play.
Here's why PBReview.com users, people who know paintball and somewhat know origami, say they like the place:
- the field is well organized and the people that work there are professional. they anwsered [sic] all my questions and even alowed me to crono prior to paying. – tonygpaintball
- This place is the best they are very big on safty [sic] u cant walk on to the field without your mask and when u come out u need to put on a barrel sleeve. They only have one feild but its really great ¬– SyDeRpro88
- I found this place and I honestly have not been to any other fields in Arizona since. I have been going since a few weeks after it first opened. This is the better of the only two in door Pheonix [sic] paintball locations, it is located in Tempe, so is very very easy to get to, and is the only close quarters scenario place I know of in all of AZ. – Az Player
Love Theme from Splattered Thunder
Many credit the success of Splattered Thunder to its break-out soundtrack, particularly the signature "Love Theme," which spent over 18 weeks at the top of Tunegroove Magazine's soundtrack charts. Rock out under your breath with these classic lyrics:
Everyone tells you that you're no good
You reach for the stars ‘cause you know that you could...
When the world gets you down
When your best friend drowns
Just head to the grounds
And reach for the crown!
You know you're the best and you push to the limit
You'll never give up and you're in it to win it....Splattered Thund-er!
Oh, oh! Splattered Thunder!
Tempe Airsoft & Paintball's 5,000-square-foot indoor Nerf Wars arena hosts rounds of action packed Nerf play among a small city setting filled with buildings, oil barrels, and other obstacles. Arriving at the compound, players check in to rent their Nerf Blaster and safety glasses as they prepair for friendly combat. As referees oversee the games, players search for vantage points among the buildings or take part in skirmishes among the oil barrels and other obstacles
