Unlike summer camps, boot camps won't require you to put on a fundraising talent show to stop a nefarious computer company from turning Lake Cowabunga into its new industrial-waste depository. Team up to fight unfitness with today's Groupon: for $25, you get a punch card for five drop-in classes to be used within 30 days at Teofista Bootcamps on Silver Springs Boulevard (a $100 value).
At Teofista Bootcamps, a brawny sidekick of Teofista Boxing, trainers command classes that help boot campers burn calories and develop new fitness skills in a social setting. Beginner no-contact group boxing classes encourage new pugilists at any fitness level to show no pity for pleading heavy bags while building coordination with speed-bag drills and conquering quaking hills, stairs, and kettlebells. The Ultimate Total Body Conditioning course, a symphony of interval and circuit training, boxing, and calisthenics, cues the heart's a cappella version of “Eye of the Tiger” with rope skipping and jogging, and builds muscle matter during pushup and sit-up reps, all at the protoathlete’s own pace. In other sessions, participants bolster cores with progressive kettlebells and partner up to pound some pads, building confidence and an arsenal of right hooks and undercuts for their next tussle with a one-wheeled shopping cart. Classes are currently held Monday–Friday mornings, though times are subject to change.
