Now that you've completed your masterpiece portrait of your head on Dom DiMaggio's body, add hand-decorated ceramics to your mantle. Today's Groupon fosters creativity: for $17, get $35 worth of ceramics painting at Terra Mia Decorative Art Studio. Visit the Castro Street location in your ceramic car to impress your inner curator with colorful style and straight-from-the-kiln opulence. It's the perfect project for impressing that someone who may be special, but is surely someone, for Valentine's Day or letting your kids flex their creativity muscles.
Terra Mia has been orchestrating decorative coats of paint for years. Terra Mia invites you and the family or a family of friends to a day of ceramics, where a flat $5–$10 sitting fee (which you must use your Groupon for) lets you customize any piece of art you choose from the studio's stock. Instead of spending your hours dusting off tagless Beanie Babies, find a sushi plate ($14 small or $18 large) that longs for a colorful fleece of love, or give a teacup a fresh makeover. From the relaxing charm of Terra Mia's creation studio, you can breath vivid life into objects that were once dull and frightfully pale. Put your painter's thumb to use on such canvases as salad plates ($10), chopstick bowls ($20), or a petite morning orange juice or milk pitcher ($18), among other pieces.
Upon completing your project, you can choose to have it glazed ($1) for that professional polish that makes meadowlarks wish they had opposable thumbs for art-time. Transfer the contours of your imagination onto a blank ceramic canvas to wow your dinner guests or stoke your significant other's love fire.

Terra Mia Ceramic Studio
Since 1994, when the first iteration of Terra Mia Ceramic Studio opened, Christine Simmons and her team have been helping kids and adults get creative. The studio eventually relocated to its current site, a large space full of natural light and color splashing from finished ceramic pieces. The wide variety of paintable pottery the space contains, as well as the helpful input of friendly staffers, earned the studio SF Weekly's award for the best DIY ceramics shop in 2012.
After adding finishing touches to pottery, guests can sit for spells on an outdoor patio loaded up with plants. The patio leads to a cozy, sunny-walled room that's ideal for birthday parties, girls' nights out, or private gatherings of people born with brushes for fingers.
