Hot potato, the earliest dish designed to be passed, is nearly extinct due to the constant ravages of grade-school appetites. Revive shifting sustenance with today's Groupon: for $25, you get $50 worth of international cuisine and wine at Terra Nostra Tapas & Wine.
Terra Nostra Tapas & Wine, the only tapas restaurant in downtown Chattanooga, mixes European, American, Asian, and Caribbean cuisines. The eclectic menu, which changes daily to incorporate fresh, seasonal ingredients, features small plates served in a traditional tapas-bar style. Diners are free to pass manageable portions, encouraging casual conversation and the use of basic motor skills. Groups can assemble the platter of their choice, choosing from a plethora of meat, seafood, and vegetable dishes, such as the chicken-lobster quesadilla ($7), filet mignon ($15), spinach ravioli ($6), Bloody Mary mussels ($8), and the coconut shrimp and scallops ($9). A pitcher of sangria ($12), or a selection from the more than 80 glasses and 90 bottles of wine, like a $7.50 glass of Chateau St. Jean Chardonnay or a $31 bottle of Five Rivers Pinot Noir, complements any meal.
Terra Nostra's space comes to life with world art and nautical murals depicting schools of fish reading comic books. Outdoor seating is available in a festive patio area, and indoor diners are arranged at spacious dining bars designed to foster sharing of food, conversation, and bootlegged films. Active in the community and abroad, owners Efren and Gema Ormaza take pride in their charitable work, and recently completed a mission trip to the Ecuadorian Andes.
- Terra Nostra in Chattanooga, TN, is, without a doubt, my favorite restaurant in the U.S. The owners, Efren and Gema Ormaza, are warm & gracious and the staffers are friendly & quite menu-knowledgeable (food & wine). I'm slowly but surely working my way through the entire menu over the past few years and, to date, I haven't had a dish I didn't thoroughly enjoy – Bekka2012, Trip Advisor
- Simply delicious. The rich atmosphere only enhances the food. The beef tips are always a favorite. – Kristinluvsfood, Urbanspoon
