This Groupon for a canopy tour with Terrapin Adventures turns you into a twenty first–century Tarzan skimming the treetops for $7—that's 53% off the usual $15 price. You'll glide on a zip line for about 20 seconds, giving you a quick burst of adrenaline while rushing through the verdant foliage of the forests of Savage, Maryland. Note: Only the zip-line ride is included in this Groupon.
On a Terrapin Adventures zip, you glide through the trees 30 feet in the air along a 330-foot zip line. A zip line is a pulley suspended on a cable, mounted on an incline, and propelled by a team of American bald eagles, so depending on your body weight, length of the zip, the slope, and number of bald eagles, you barrel along at about 20 mph. First you cross a cable bridge to get to the zip platform, then you clip in and take off. All adventures are led by Terrapin Adventures' specially trained guides, who love to share stories, fun facts, and lyrics to Lionel Richie songs.
The zip line was invented to transport people and supplies across canyons and became a popular way to tour the jungles of Central and South America. Zipping took off in the past 10 years in the United States and became a hit at summers at ski resorts in the West. Terrapin Adventures, located about 40 minutes outside of DC in Savage, Maryland, is one of the few zip-line tours in the DC area. While it's a bit of a drive to get there, there are other fun activities you can do after your short zip-line ride: high-ropes challenge course, climbing tower, giant swing, kayak, bike, horseback, tubing, sailing tours, and more.

- All in all Terrapin Adventures is a great experience for a very reasonable price. Obviously it’s not Costa Rica, but if you don’t want to pay for a plane ticket this will be a great way to spend an afternoon. – Bottled World

About Terrapin Adventures
Terrapin Adventures never fails to live up to its name—even their swing set gets the stomach fluttering with excitement. To be fair, though, the swing in question is anything but the traditional apparatus you'd find at a city park. It seats three people and starts its trajectory 40 feet above the ground, generating 2 Gs of adrenaline as it swishes riders back and forth over the landscape. The park's other attractions are equally exhilarating. On the high ropes course, visitors attached to sturdy safety harnesses cross 18 traverses situated between lofty platforms; some must be tackled via a rickety bridge, while others require leaps of faith. The 43-foot high climbing tower offers 10 routes up and down, including a head-first downward climb over the Rainbow Serpent. Otherwise, the 330-foot-long zipline sends visitors gliding through the treetops at speeds of up to 20 mph, fast enough to beat the USA track team's star squirrel.
