No more than 12 guests at a time pile into the comfortable passenger van for an all-day adventure visiting at least three wineries in the Sonoma and Napa region. The tour, which includes tasting fees, begins at 9:30 a.m. at either Union Square or Fisherman’s Wharf, then heads out to such grape-stomping grounds as Cline Cellars, the Larson Family Winery, and Hawkes Winery. The guide reveals such secrets as how and why one should smell, swirl, and juggle vintages, and how grapes become wine at all. Lunch is not included, but may be packed or purchased during a one-hour rest at Sonoma Plaza. Voyagers can expect to be back around 6 p.m.
