Q:

This, stated in the offer, is NOT true: Upon course completion, students receive internationally recognized TESOL, TEFL, and TESL certification, allowing them to teach English as a secondary language in public or private schools. This course is NOT recognised by TESL Ontario for TESL certification, and so graduates cannot teach ESL in the public school system in Ontario. TESL certification requires a bachelor degree and at least a one-year program at college or university level. DO NOT BE MISLED by false advertising.

A:

They are recognized by the English Language Teachers Society of Canada and The Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers, are Institutional members of IATEFL and are on the list of applicant members for accreditation at ACTDEC.

If you want to teach in a public school in Canada or the US, a certification course such as theirs may not be sufficient because the local school board may require you have a TESOL diploma instead, which takes 2-3 years to complete. That requirement varies by district and we always recommend checking with your local school board. If however you are interested in working in a private school or any school abroad, their course will be more than sufficient to give you the qualifications you need to get the job.

Q:

Does this certification actually open up opportunities on its own, to teach English internationally? Is it recognized by employers without a degree in lingustics, or english? Are there any other courses needed to supplement this particular program offered on Groupon, or can it stand alone as full certification?

Rayna T.  asked on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

Definitely...the certification is internationally recognized. The only admission requirement is a certain level of English proficiency which by the look of your email, you have already demonstrated you possess. There are no extra courses, exams or costs associated with being certified; the deal price includes everything you need. You can purchase without worry.

Q:

I have looked at each of the modules. It looks like each one requires a test. Are there any other projects or written work that is required?

Sally M.  asked on  Feb 4, 2013

A:

Yes...each module has assignments, quizzes, projects and a test as you have said. To be certified you need a cumulative score of 65% on all of this.
