Q:

I just went to the buy page and it lists a 150 hour not 160 hour course and also does not mention the tutor or job bank or e-library access. Please email me when the actual promotion is reflected on the buy page. Carol Johnson

A:

Sorry for the confusion. The deal page and Buy button have each been corrected, and the Groupon is for a 160-hour course with Job Bank and e-Library Access.

Q:

Is this certification valid for international AND domestic (U.S.) teaching opportunities?

Priscilla  asked on  Jan 7, 2014

A:

If you want to teach in a public school in Canada or the US, a certification course such as theirs may not be sufficient because the local school board may require you have a TESOL diploma instead, which takes 2-3 years to complete. If however you are interested in working in a private school or any school abroad, their course will be more than sufficient to give you the qualifications you need to get the job.

Q:

Do you give continuing ed credits for these courses?

Carol  asked on  Jan 6, 2014

A:

This course is for TESOL-Certification only, and would not provide continuing ed credits.

Q:

As a former teacher who is planning to retire this year, I would like to do this. Do you know of anyone in the 02360 zip code area who is taking this course and/or is teaching this? Do people work out of their homes? What is the usual charge to students for this class? Thank you.

Linda P.  asked on  Jan 5, 2014

A:

Once you complete your certification you are given access to their exclusive job bank which is updated daily. I suggest checking out the FAQ by clicking here to get a general idea of what kind of opportunities may be available after you complete the certification. Feel free to contact TESOLS.com directly if you'd like more specific career information in advance. For their contact information, click here.

To add to my previous post, please note that if you want to teach in a public school in Canada or the US, a certification course such as this one may not be sufficient because the local school board may require you have a TESOL diploma instead, which takes 2-3 years to complete. If you're interested in working in a private school or any school abroad, this course should be sufficient to give you the qualifications you need to get the job.

Q:

Are there any other requirements (other than TESOL certification) to teach English as a second language?

Lisa A.  asked on  Jan 4, 2014

A:

That really depends where you wish to teach.
