Halloween-themed archery festival fosters autumn fun for costumed children & parents with spine-tingling stations that host eerie targets

Archery helps maintain nature’s balance—hunters wield bows to keep deer populations in check, while Cupid’s arrows make deer fall in love. Keep the circle of life moving with today’s Groupon to the Spook Shoot kids’ archery outing at Texas Archery Academy in Plano. Children must be age six or older to participate. The event is held on Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday October 30 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Choose from the following options:

  • For $20, you get admission for one child and accompanying parents or guardians (a $40 value).
  • For $30, you get admission for two children and accompanying parents or guardians (an $80 value).
  • For $40, you get admission for three children and accompanying parents or guardians (a $120 value).

Spook Shoot transforms the Texas Archery Academy‘s 30,000-square-foot shooting range into a frightful funhouse that challenges children and parents with Halloween targets. Once inside the academy’s creepy confines, convoys will be briefed on shooting safety and skills before embarking on a journey that stops at different spine-tingling stations, where attendants stand ready with bows, arrows, and frightening tales of haunted nocking points. Most of the soulless targets spook youngsters by surviving well-aimed shots, and a special few thrill marksmen by bursting upon impact. The meandering course leads participants through a number of obstacles before terminating in a haunted graveyard, inhabited by moving targets and mummies who patiently wait for clearance to crawl back into bed. Arrow slingers younger than 16 must be accompanied by their parents, who can assist in pulling back bowstrings and take turns shooting on their own.

Though the event is spooky in theme, it’s intended to be all about fun, with guarantees that no goblins or invisible hands will grab any participants. Encouraging creativity, a costume contest will award one free archery lesson to the shooter in the best duds every hour.
