What You'll Get

Three out of seven economists with hot sauce on their chins predict that future currency will be based on the taco. Invest in the silver dollars of 22nd-century business with today’s Groupon, which gets you $10 of fresh, authentic Mexican fare for $5 at That Taco Shop. This deal is valid for dine-in, carryout, or delivery ($10 minimum order for breakfast, $15 for lunch, no delivery fee).

Tacos—landing strips for lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, and other suspiciously vegetable-like things—might seem natural candidates for health food, but most Tex-Mex preparations aren’t that great for the heart or waistline. That Taco Shop, on the other hand, fills its fare with both healthful ingredients and bold flavor, thanks to its roots in traditional, authentic Mexican food. A trip south of the border inspired the owners to open a shop drawing on the healthy, old-fashioned, fresh foods they found in Central Mexico. There, centuries of tradition encourage a reliance on quality ingredients and a passion for food that That Taco Shop emulates with an American flair. They use only high-quality, fresh ingredients, including Oaxaca cheese, Mexican crema, and vegetarian refried beans. The open kitchen means you can see for yourself that no That Taco Shop taco ever arrives on premises preassembled.

The menu offers up a variety of foldable yum, like the fish tacos ($6.75 for two), filled with lightly battered and fried tilapia, shredded cabbage, and spicy Rancho Villa dressing. Another customer favorite is the barbecue-pork torta, or Mexican sandwich ($5.79), topped with tequila-barbecue sauce, thin-sliced roasted poblano peppers, onions, and spicy coleslaw. That Taco Shop also offers up healthy, flavorful salad burritos ($5.95) bursting with veggies and black-bean corn salsa, or the loaded burrito ($5.79 chicken or pork, or $6.29 beef) with fajita veggies, beans, rice, pico de gallo, guac, and cheese. Most menu items run less than $7, and meat options include shredded or diced chicken, Mexican pulled pork, picadillo (ground beef with potatoes and spices), and diced skirt steak. That Taco Shop is open for breakfast as well as lunch. You can buy up to three Groupons per person (one per visit).

Eight Urbanspooners give That Taco Shop 87% approval, and two Yelpers give it a perfect five stars:

  • This food is really excellent. They have this Pulled Pork BBQ Carnita thing on a bun (torta?) that is totally amazing. I'm not sure if it is traditional Mexican food (that BBQ Pork Torta), but I know many of their menu items are. They are really scrumptions [sic]. I decided to write this review after eating there almost everyday this week...You will not be disappointed! – Maria, Urbanspoon
  • This place was tasty/awesome-- fresh, non greasy breakfast tacos that were super cheap and came with coffee! – AP2010, Urbanspoon
