What You'll Get
Michael Blackson, known as the "African King of Comedy," headlines the Comedy Explosion Mother's Day edition. Blackson, who was born in the African nation of Ghana, began his stand-up career in Philadelphia. Now he cracks up audiences nationwide with his unique perspectives and jokes about the immigrant experience. A frequent guest on BET's stand-up showcase ComicView, Blackson has also been seen on HBO's Def Comedy Jam, Showtime's Shaq's All Star Comedy Jam and more. He was hand-picked by Ice Cube himself to audition for the cult hit comedy Next Friday, where Blackson made a huge impact, going on to roles in Are We There Yet? and TV's 30 Rock. Blackson shares the stage at Chicago's Arie Crown Theatre with Luenell, who co-starred in Borat as a hooker with a heart of gold, and Benji Brown, who's known best for his hysterical characters (especially the shrill-voiced Kiki, whose YouTube videos have millions of views). Rodney Perry hosts this showcase of hilarity the night before Mother's Day.
