Filipino-American comedian Rex Navarrete, star of the stand-up DVDs Hella Pinoy, Badass Madapaka! and Komik Organik, headlines San Diego's American Comedy Co. After two decades in the comedy business, the San Francisco native has performed at clubs all over the country, not to mention Europe and Asia. Not strictly limited to material for the Filipino audience, Navarrete finds the universality in the American immigrant experience -- while still managing to get in a few jabs at Filipino icons like boxer Manny Pacquiao.
Rex Navarrete, a native San Francisco comic, has gained a massive underground following over a decade in the business, both live and on the internet, with his now infamous Maritess Vs. The Superfriends animation. He has performed his brand of comedy all across the nation, becoming a household name in Filipino American homes. In 1998, he released his first comedy CD, Badly Browned, and his second, Husky Boy, the next year. Both have become bestsellers on the Classified Records label and have brought high praise by listeners across the country. In the summer of 2001, he released his third CD, Bastos, and then produced, directed and released his first ever, live standup DVD, Hella Pinoy. This was followed by his acclaimed second DVD, Badass Madapaka! And for the animated series The Nutshack, Navarrete voiced many of the key characters in the groundbreaking Filipino-American animated production.
