  • $30 for two festival wristbands for general admission (up to an $80 value)

On August 15, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., The Arboretum of South Barrington’s shops and grassy lawns erupt into a swirl of tunes and food as five live bands provide a soundtrack to the Uncorked & Untapped: Rock 'n Roll Salute to the Troops event. Wine, cocktails, craft beers, and culinary creations fuel crowds as they travel to and from nine of the center’s premier restaurants, such as Pinstripes, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, and Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant, in an open-air trolley. While sipping on premium drink selections from around the world, asking one of the perennial flower bushes about its perfume, and swaying in harmony to the tunes of Libido Funk Circus and Hi Infidelity, guests can take comfort in knowing their contributions will benefit US troops. A portion of the proceeds will be used to refurbish the USO Cyber Canteen at O'Hare International Airport, which will provide a secure and comfortable place for US military members to relax and connect online with family members between flights.

Because of road closings, guests approaching from the west on Route 72 should use the second entrance to the Arboretum; all others should use the Route 59 entrance.

The Arboretum of South Barrington

Hearkening the charm of the town squares that dotted America in the early 20th century, The Arboretum of South Barrington places boutiques, restaurants, and cafés within strolling distance of each other in a central, tree-speckled location. The open-air center beckons with a verdant landscape of more than 2,700 trees representing 80 shade and ornamental species including maples, elms, and Golden Raindrops crabapples. Between these, gardens add splashes of color and potential hiding places for bank robbers on the run with 20,000 perennials and 10,000 grasses, originally nurtured by fourth-generation nurseryman Roy Klehm, a worldwide authority on peonies.

Apart from the grandeur and fresh air of nature, The Arboretum of South Barrington plays host to shops such as L.L. Bean, restaurants such as Anna Shea Chocolates & Lounge, and entertainment facilities such as iPic Theaters. Regular events keep the grounds bustling with culinary tours and live music.

Great place for some fun and good food and drinks.

Untapped and uncorked was a great event! My only complaint is that it may have been oversold because the lines were so long.
