The Arthritis Foundation Jingle Bell Run/Walk 5k
Folks all over the country are strap on their jingle-belled shoes, secure their festive reindeer horns, and charge their red-nose headlights in case of inclement weather in preparation for The Arthritis Foundation Jingle Bell Run. The 5K run/walk raises money for research in the fight against arthritis, a complex of musculoskeletal disorders that affects young and old alike. To put a face on the condition and remind the world that arthritis can affect anybody, the races name an adult honoree and a youth honoree who share their stories on the event website. The Chicago 2013 event, for example, featured Bridget Kirby, a high school freshman who has played soccer since she was five years old and keeps active thanks to advances in medical knowledge. The events also name a medical honoree to celebrate the physicians and researchers that continue to fight for treatments and cures.
