What You'll Get

Visiting an Irish pub is like stepping into James Joyce's Ulysses without dealing with molemen, teenage detectives, and heavy-handed NASCAR references. Read the CliffsNotes with today's Groupon: for $15, you get $30 worth of authentic pub fare and drinks served with an Irish accent at The Auld Dubliner in Tucson. This deal is good for dine-in and carry-out; a food item needs to be purchased as part of the order.

Though each Auld Dubliner storefront is lettered in the same size-300 Irish Gaelvetica font, it must also meet the stringent level of pub authenticity required by co-owner and Gaelic strongdrinker David Copley. A native of Limerick, Ireland, Copley might share a dirty poem if you ask nicely, but he's more likely to tell you that every part of his pub's polished wood and brass décor was designed and crafted in Ireland and transported piece-by-piece to its new American home. The Auld Dubliner's oaken ornamentation of barrels, bar counters, hefty wood tables, faux-oil lamps, and Guinness posters galore makes it easy to tuck right into a menu of toothsome Erin edibles such as shepherd's pie with ground beef and lamb baked with mashed potatoes ($11.95) or the for-more-than-St.-Patty's-Day corned beef and cabbage ($12.95). Other fare that comes with a shamrock stamp of approval includes the traditional boxty (a potato pancake) stuffed with delights such as Irish bacon and melted cheddar ($12.95) or an Irish stew ($10.95). Slightly haute-seared classics strut their stuff as well, including pub burgers ($9.95), a classic Caesar salad ($8.50, add chicken for $3 more), and the Irish sausage sandwich ($8.95) with onions, peppers, mushrooms, and swiss cheese on ciabatta with wholegrain mustard.

As befits a good Irish pub or bad Irish church, each Auld Dubliner is equipped to meet the debauching needs of its local clientele with a full array of Harp, Boddingtons, and, of course, "the black stuff" issuing from its taps pint by Imperial pint. Savor a beer and a bite and a little stream-of-consciousness craic, all "tanks" to today's Groupon to The Auld Dubliner.
