What You'll Get
Bistros first emerged in Paris during the French Revolution after mobs of angry peasants got tired of revolutioning and demanded a chocolate-covered caviar break. Dine on unpretentious bistro fare with today’s Groupon: for $20, you get $40 worth of New Orleans–inspired cuisine and drinks at The Bistro on Park Avenue in Winter Park.
Whether seated in the indoor atrium or enjoying the outdoor courtyard, guests of The Bistro on Park Avenue will find a delectable assortment of stomach comforters on which to nosh, such as a pair of pan-fried crab cakes with a homemade sweet Asian sauce ($15) or shrimp Louie salad, which decorates fresh mixed greens, red onion, cucumber, tomato, and boiled egg slices with curly sea runts ($13). Bistro pot roast quickly woos taste buds with slow-roasted meatiness accompanied by mashed potatoes and the day’s seasonal vegetable ($19). For savory sandwiched fare, try a Cajun black-and-blue burger, which traps a half-pound sirloin burger between the halves of a toasted kaiser roll and sprinkles on blue cheese crumbles and fried jalapeño slices ($12). Dessert options include key-lime crème brûlée ($8), Jack Daniel's chocolate cake ($7), and Kentucky-bourbon pecan pie ($7).
The Bistro on Park Avenue serves lunch beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturdays and brunch on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Live entertainment will sometimes appear in the courtyard (weather permitting) on Friday nights, allowing guests to use all human senses simultaneously.
