Winston Churchill was famous for the high standards he applied to alcohol, quipping that "Liquor is quicker, but get me a single malt scotch with moon rocks in it! I'm the English president!" Be like Ol' Winnie with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of pub fare and drinks at The Bitter End Pub, located on Burnside Street.
Across the street from PGE Park, The Bitter End Pub attracts draft-drinkers, appetizer aficionados, and professional Pac-Man players into their high-brick-walled and hardwood-floored eatery. The no-frills menu showcases savory pub fare, including cheesy garlic fries ($6.50), mini corndogs ($5.50), and the Ridiculous burger, where meat meets meat, a double dosage of cheese, and bacon, all under the umbrella of a sturdy bun ($9). Twenty beers stand ready to soothe esophagus canals, and a plethora of pool, foosball, pinball, and video games keep patron mind-matter from too intently exploring explosive physics theorems. The Bitter End also houses eight HD televisions displaying anticipated sports events.
- I must say, I do dig this place. Pretty homey atmosphere… Tonight, I discovered the Foosball table is free, which is awesome because I'd hate to keep paying to lose to my friend, over and over. – Chase L., Yelp
- My first visit to The Bitter End was just a few months ago, and ever since I've been a regular. The atmosphere [sic] very bright and inviting, the furniture definitely adds to the character. – Oregonbound, Citysearch
