When life throws you a curveball, the only solution is to accept it and move on; when a batting cage throws you a curveball, the required solution is to walk up and smash it with your bat. Hone your problem-solving skills with today's Groupon: for $7, you get $15 worth of batting-cage practice at The Cage.
The Cage's eight automated pitchers expectorate balls at multiple velocities to accommodate batters of all skill levels. After scraping together a few tokens ($1 for one, $5 for six, $10 for 13, or $20 for 26), each of which is preloaded with 12 pitches, sluggers can stride into the hitting arena to practice their swing at a chosen speed, whether they like soft and slow lobs or prefer the blazing-fast rate of balls shot from a particle accelerator. Suitable for improving the hand-eye coordination of entire teams or one person with many clones, cages may also be rented out by the hour ($35) or half-hour ($20); dedicated fans can use their Groupons toward Heavy Hitter punch cards, apparel, gloves, and birthday parties.
From April through September, baseballs and softballs hurl toward awaiting batters in The Cage's eight outdoor batting cages. As batters warm up, they choose between slow pitch or fast pitch options for softball batting and from four speeds for baseball pitching. Each $1 token grants participants 12 chances to practice their bunting, homering, or pausing balls in midair if they believe hard enough. Monday through Friday from noon to 9 p.m., Saturday from noon to 8 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m., players can visit the facility to work on their batting, stock up on baseball apparel or gloves at the facility's shop, or celebrate a birthday with packages that include cage-rental time, a cake, and a gift for the celebrator.
