Very enjoyable for young age group. Any longer would have been too much.

If only children were easily amused, they’d find graduate lectures about modified Newtonian dynamics more enthralling than the adhesive properties of cheese and macaroni upon collision with a ceiling. Luckily, today’s Groupon to the Children’s Theatre Company exceeds even their lofty entertainment standards. For up to 51% off the ticket price, kids, adults, and everyone in between can score a ticket to Iron Ring, a gripping Indian epic of daring adventure. Use this Groupon to pick up your tickets during regular box-office hours (10 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. Saturday, noon–5 p.m. Sunday) or from the will-call booth on the day of your performance.

Rooted in ancient Indian mythology and based on a book by Lloyd Alexander, Iron Ring chronicles the journey of King Tamar as he goes on an adventurous voyage to regain his kingdom after losing a game of chance to an enigmatic stranger. Along the way, he acquires a comedic crew of sidekicks, including a brave and beautiful milkmaid, a cowardly eagle, and a wily monkey. The entire adventure is told through the dance-fueled dazzle of the Ragamala Music and Dance Theater.

As the largest children’s theater in North America, the Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) has thrilled audiences since 1965. Held in high esteem by peers nationally, internationally, and intergalactically, CTC focuses on introducing the arts to children and families in the Twin Cities. CTC was awarded the Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre in 2003, so audiences can expect emotion-fueled acting and jaw-dropping special effects that are much more believable than elaborate plans developed by college students to gain assignment extensions. An ample parking lot, central location, and a sound-proof “crying room” for young children make a trip to CTC more convenient than duct-tape-dispensing sweat pants.

Four Yelpers and four ParentsConnect users rate the company a perfect five: > * I have gone to the Childrens [sic] Theatre for years…from the time I was a little girl! I love it. The shows are fantastic and I am looking forward to taking my children! – One mom on 2/1/2006, LilaGuide > * The children’s theater provides an excellent live theater experience for children but thoroughly enjoyable to the adult crowd. The acting is well-done and the technical aspect is outstanding. The theater encourages audience participation and effectively caters to the needs of the younger theater crowd. – Jane M., Insider Pages > * Absolutely great, perfectly planned and executed performances that both our children and us love. – Anonymous on 5/30/09, ParentsConnect
