What You'll Get

Besides a pottery wheel, the easiest way to manipulate clay is to threaten to rebury it in the dark, sandy hole where you found it. Make sure clay turns to putty in your hands with today's Groupon to The ClayGround Studio & Gallery in Savage. Choose between the following options:

The ClayGround’s ceramics classes provide potters with all the tools and materials needed to create their very own earthenware art. Wheel-throwing students can get elbow-deep in relaxing mud manipulation, spinning unshaped lumps into beautiful pots for housing plants or opaque fishbowls for hiding homely pet fish . The hand-manipulation class imparts a variety of techniques to shape clay, such as extrusion, slabbing, coiling, pinching, and roundhouse kicking. After they have been fully glazed, a talented instructor will oversee the firing of ceramic donuts, bowls, and plates in an electric kiln. Since class sizes are limited, potters must call ahead to inquire about available dates and times and reserve a spot.

About The ClayGround Studio & Gallery

While other children were playing outside Charlene Randolph's bedroom window, she was buried in her coloring books, scribbling intently with her crayons. This passion for two-dimensional art led her to take a slew of illustration classes in high school, but it wasn't until college that she discovered the clay medium and the world of functional, three-dimensional art. Tossing her canvases and drawing pencils to the side, Charlene became the primary instructor at The ClayGround Studio & Gallery, a BYOB workshop that provides novice potters with all the tools, materials, and fire-breathing abilities needed to craft stoneware art. Charlene's own masterpieces are available for purchase through the studio's website or at various boutiques and galleries across the country.
