Q:

The Climbing Wall Groupon would not allow me to "just buy 1 for a friend" as a Christmas gift. I ended up just buying 1 for myself since this was the only way it would accept it, so am I able to give my groupon to my friend?

Theresa G.  asked on  Oct 26, 2011

A:

Yes

Q:

Could you please tell me, does this groupon only cover bouldering until I pay extra & take the class to do the climbing wall? Thanks!

Jessica M.  asked on  Oct 26, 2011

A:

The groupon is a membership or pass plan for our gym. This automatically gets you access to our bouldering area, which is the area that does not require ropes or prior knowledge. Access to the roped area (top-roping), which is significantly higher, requires knowing specific skills that allow you to safely use the equipment needed for top-roping. You either need to demonstrate that you know how to tie the follow-through- figure eight knot and can safely belay a climber or you have to take a class. The fees associated with this certified are not included in the groupon.

Q:

Can I buy two, to be used as Xmas gifts for different people? It looks as though I can only buy one.

Joanna D.  asked on  Oct 25, 2011

A:

You can buy a second one as a gift. I believe there is a gift option where you can enter the person's name.

Q:

I just bought the three month membership as a gift, but didn't click the gift button. I had a membership in the last 9 months, so I am not able to use it myself, but can I give it to my partner?

Arielle P.  asked on  Oct 25, 2011

A:

Yes. You can give it to someone else.

Q:

I'm getting mixed messages about the age requirements - after I bought this deal it clearly states 18 or older. What's the deal? I bought this for a 12 year old after I saw this response: the minimum age requirement is 6. Anyone ages 6-12 must be accompanied by an adult to climb in the Bouldering Area (adult does not need to climb).

Jo Ann M.  asked on  Oct 24, 2011

A:

What is posted on Groupon is incorrect. 6 is the minimum age for our gym. You can redeem the groupon for as young as 6, which is our gym's minimum age requirement..

Q:

Hello, I just bought a 3 month pass for a Christmas present. Does this membership start once the coupon is printed or once it is presented at the rock climbing wall?

cheryl k.  asked on  Oct 24, 2011

A:

It starts when you redeem the coupon at The Climbing Wall, Inc. Keep in mind though, the coupon has an expiration date. Apr 26, 2012. You must use the coupon prior to that date or you can no longer redeem it.

Q:

I just noticed the offer states "Today's Groupon is valid for climbers 16 and older. This is a typo... it should say 6 and older.

Andrea B.  asked on  Oct 23, 2011

A:

The minimum age requirement is 6. Anyone ages 6-12 must be accompanied by an adult to climb in the Bouldering Area (adult does not need to climb). This area can be used anytime during operational hours. For the Top-roping Area, anyone ages 6-15 can climb during our Kids Climb Sessions or can climb anytime during operational hours with an adult who has been certified to use this area. For more information about youth climbing, look at the Kids page on our web site http://www.theclimbingwall.net/theclimbingwall/Kids.html

Q:

If I purchase a 5 day pass for my son could someone else use it at another time?

Carol S.  asked on  Oct 23, 2011

A:

When your son redeems his Groupon, an account will be created for him in our customer database. The 5 passes will go onto his account. He can use his passes for guests, however he must be present at the time the passes are used.

Andrea T.  from  Merchant  replied on  Oct 23, 2011

Q:

1) Within what period of time does the 5 day pass need to be used 2) What class needs to be taken to climb safely and how much does it cost? How much is the discount for classes for the membership option? 3) If a group of people all want to take the class together, can they split the cost or get a discount?

Gil C.  asked on  Oct 23, 2011

A:

1) The 5 Day Pass can be used for any 5 days of your choosing - once a day for 5 days, once a week, a couple times a month, over a few months, etc. 2) To use the Bouldering Area (area without ropes), no experience or class is necessary. You must complete a waiver and listen to a few minutes of rules/explanation. Normally a pass for this area is $12 per visit. All three of the offers provide use of this area with no additional fees (unless you choose to rent climbing shoes/equipment). To use the top-roping area (area with ropes), you would need to take our Belay Class (if you are inexperienced). This one-time class is normally $30. It would cost $30 with the 5-day pass, $15 with the memberships. 3) A group of up to 6 people can make a reservation to take the class together. However, the cost per person remains the same. (Equipment and climbing pass are provided for the day of the class regardless if have membership or pass plan. For more information on classes or the two areas, look at our web site www.theclimbingwall.net
