We did actually go through one of the planes. We had friends that we had surprised with tickets and he absolutely loved it. This is great for anyone who was in the service or who is a World War II buff.

Very interesting tour of these WWII warplanes - You get to walk through both bombers, getting a real feel for them.

My Uncle was a Captain on a B17 in WWII. We are working on a book of his war time pilot training and his service. We were able to actually crawl up into the B17, walk through the main area, see the bomb doors, see the gunner turrets, and exit the plane at the back. It was an awesome thing to experience what my Uncle went through in WWII. I am grateful we still have airplane museums so those who are interested can experience them up close.

About The Collings Foundation

Once, they roamed the skies, keeping America safe from threats both at home and abroad. Now, the planes of the Wings of Freedom tour report for a different duty: educating future generations of historians. In keeping with its mission to educate the public on living history, The Collings Foundation takes these warplanes on the road, often near the airfield where they once served. Tour-goers may peruse vintage planes from the days of early flight and marvel at rare bomber and fighter aircrafts from World War II, including a B-17 Flying Fortress bomber, a B-24 Liberator, B-25 Mitchell, and a P-51 Mustang fighter.
